2020 NFL Redraft

First post is a hypothetical if the NFL re-did the 2020 NFL Draft, right now in 2026.

This is assuming all rosters are as they were at the time of draft in 2020 and NFL franchises know the career outcome for these players up to 2026.

Same draft order will be used with original first round picks and pre-draft trades.

This is only the first 10 picks of the draft as this is my first post and I want to see how it comes out.

I feel this is an appropriate time to do this with all rookie contracts and fifth-year options expired. This was the first draft I really dove into and studied due to COVID and being in lock down.

1. Bengals

Original: Joe Burrow (LSU)---New: Joe Burrow (LSU)

Despite Burrow's health struggles and lack of sustained playoff appearances I believe that the Bengals would stick with their pick. He is a top 3 pure passer in the sport and has flashed as a legit MVP candidate. The Bengals were in desperate need of a quarterback after Andy Dalton's departure and Burrow certainly fits the mold.

2. Commanders

Original: Chase Young (Ohio State)---New: Justin Jefferson (LSU)

This was a bad roster with no real weapons besides a 2nd year Terry McLaurin. The Commanders don't take a QB due to them taking Dwayne Haskins the year prior with their first round pick. Jefferson could give Haskins a real chance to develop and assist Terry with a true running mate.

3. Lions

Original: Jeff Okudah (Ohio State)---New: Tristan Wirfs (Iowa)

The Lions had a stalwart Left Tackle with Taylor Decker. The Wirfs selection would give the Lions one of the best tackle duos in the league. Could better tackle play have given the Lions a better chance at retaining Matthew Stafford and keeping the young core rolling with D'Andre Swift and Kenny Golladay? Wirfs has been one of the best Right Tackles in the league since his rookie year with 5 pro bowls and 2 first team All-Pro.

4. Giants

Original: Andrew Thomas (Georgia)---New: Ceedee Lamb (Oklahoma)

Having a true X-Factor Wideout in the NFL is something that is extremely hard to come by. Ceedee Lamb is that, with the ability to get open at all levels. The Giants had a young toolsy QB in Daniel Jones entering year 2 and why not upgrade his WR room. The pre-draft room included: Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, and Golden Tate. Ceedee would be the X-receiver Daniel Jones never had in New York. Perhaps he develops in the solid pro he was drafted to be for the Giants.

5. Dolphins

Original: Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama)---New: Justin Herbert (Oregon)

The Dolphins desperate need for a quarterback remains. The "Tank for Tua" 2019 season was for good reason as they had no future at quarterback with Ryan Fitzpatrick taking most of the snaps that year. Herbert is the pick here. Although he has major playoff struggles and I question his big game pedigree, the tools are ridiculous. I would have loved to see him with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

6. Chargers

Original: Justin Herbert (Oregon)---New: Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma)

I like winning. Jalen Hurts wins. Despite his many flaws that are pointed out thoroughly in the media, all the dude does is win. I think that if the Chargers would have know that they could get a Superbowl champ and durable perennial pro bowler they would have taken it in a heartbeat. This was the time of prime Austin Ekeler. I think they would have worked well together with Ekeler's receiving ability.

7. Panthers

Original: Derrick Brown (Auburn)---New: Jordan Love (Utah State)

The Panthers signed Bridgewater to a deal in the 2019 offseason which signaled they were looking for a bridge guy, not the long-term answer. Jordan Love would fit perfectly in this situation and it mirrors what actually happened with the Packers. Love would learn under Bridgewater for a year only (due to Bridgewater's poor play) and then take over in 2021. Love is a solid quarterback and is more than capable of leading an offense featuring CMC and DJ Moore.

8. Cardinals

Original: Isaiah Simmons (Clemson)---New: Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin)

If the Cardinals knew that they would get 3 seasons over 1,400 rushing yards from the 8th pick, my belief is they would take that. Their running back room consisted of Chase Edmonds and Kenyan Drake, two middle of the road between the 20's backs. Taylor is a gamechanger when healthy. As a rookie Taylor had over 1,100 rushing yards. An offense of a rising Kyler Murray, Jonathan Taylor and prime Deandre Hopkins would be a scary one.

9. Jaguars

Original: CJ Henderson (Florida)---New: Antoine Winfield (Minnesota)

This is now at the point of the draft where most elite talent is gone and teams begin to draft for fit and need. Winfield is a do it all safety and something that Jaguars could have used 6 years ago. They had a very weak secondary (hence the real pick of a cornerback). Winfield could step up in the box, play the nickel or play the free in a cover 1. An instant upgrade for this defense at the time.

10. Browns

Original: Jedrick Wills (Alabama)---Nnamdi Madubuike (Texas A&M)

The Browns had a strong, young team in 2020 with weapons such as Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham, and Jarvis Landry coming off strong 2019's. With strong edge rushers an upgrade to D Line with Sheldon Richardson would have been a improvement to their bottom 5 run defense. Madubuike is more a pass rushing 3 Tech but has the ability too consistently get in the backfield and disrupt the offense. Despite his one year absence due to a neck injury he is the pick.
